| County Bowler Joins Cheltenham |
Under Gloucestershire’s player allocation scheme, Liam Norwell joins Cheltenham for the 2012 season. Liam’s career with Gloucestershire has been somewhat chequered, but he is hoping to make the ranks of the 1st XI very soon.
Liam signed a two-year contract with Gloucestershire in July 2010, having come through the GCCC Academy, and was selected in the national Elite Player Development squad to play Sri Lanka Under-19s at Loughborough, also in July 2010.
The 2011 season saw him burst onto the County Championship scene by taking 6-46 on debut in the opening game against Derbyshire at Bristol.
Unfortunately, after just a few more appearances Liam was sidelined by a stress fracture in his back. But he had already shown enough promise to be awarded an extension to his contract at the end of the season and is expected to challenge hard for a first team spot in 2012
Cheltenham are looking forward to include Liam in their league campaign this year, availability permitting!
